Dental implants in Fez

An implant replaces the root of a lost tooth. It is a small titanium screw placed in the jawbone, onto which a crown is later fitted. Unlike a bridge it does not involve the neighbouring teeth, and you brush it like a natural tooth.

Who is it for?

To replace one tooth, several teeth, or to stabilise a loose denture. You need enough bone and good general health. Smoking, poorly controlled diabetes or certain medications (particularly for osteoporosis) increase the risks: we discuss this at the assessment.

Step by step

1. Assessment: examination, panoramic X-ray and usually a 3D (cone beam) scan to measure the available bone. You then receive a written treatment plan and quote.

2. Placement: under local anaesthetic, in a session of about an hour for one implant. You feel vibration and pressure, not the screw going in.

3. Healing: the bone bonds to the implant over 3 to 6 months depending on the case. A temporary tooth can be provided if the gap is visible.

4. Crown: an impression is taken and a ceramic crown, matched to your teeth, is fitted onto the implant.

After placement

Some swelling and tenderness are normal for 2 to 4 days and are managed with the prescribed medication and ice on the cheek. Avoid smoking, hot drinks and chewing on that side for the first few days.

Long term, an implant is cared for like a tooth: brushing, floss or interdental brushes, and a yearly check-up. A poorly maintained implant can become infected (peri-implantitis), which is why follow-up matters.

What if there isn't enough bone?

After an old extraction, the bone may have shrunk. A bone graft or sinus lift can often rebuild the volume needed. The scan shows whether this is necessary before we start.

Frequently asked questions

Does getting an implant hurt?

Not during the procedure, which is done under local anaesthetic. Afterwards, the discomfort is similar to an extraction and is managed with standard painkillers.

How long does an implant last?

Well maintained and followed up, an implant can last many years, often over 15. The crown on top may wear and can be replaced if needed.

How much does an implant cost in Fez?

The cost depends on the number of implants, whether a graft is needed and the type of crown. You receive a detailed written quote after the assessment, before any surgery.
